Stainless Steel Threaded / Screwed 45° Elbows are a key part of pipe fitting systems and are sometimes called street eighth elbows. Threaded 45 Degree elbows come in two types: Short Radius Elbow and Long Radius Elbow. ANSI B16.11 Forged Screwed 45° Elbows are used in various industries, including sugar mills, fertilizer units, and distilleries.

An NPT 45 Degree Street Elbow Brass is a plumbing or piping fitting designed to join a pipe and another fitting at an angle. It’s also known as a street ell or service ell. The key difference between a street NPT Threaded Elbow and a regular MS Threaded Elbow is the type of connections they have.

Typically, the materials used for both pipe and tubing fittings match the materials of the connected pipe or tubing. The Internal Threaded Elbow can be made from any material allowed by plumbing, health, or building codes or specified by the buyer. The ASME B16.11 45 Degree Threaded Elbow must be compatible with other materials in the system, including the fluids or gases being transported, as well as the system’s temperature and pressure. The pressure ratings for these fittings range from Threaded Elbow Class 150 to Threaded Elbow Class 3000.

A Screwed Elbow is used to change the direction between two lengths of pipe or tubes. These fittings are typically 90° or 45°, but 22.5° elbows are also available. The ends of an ASME B16.11 GI Threaded Elbow can be machined for butt welding, threaded (usually female), or socketed. When the ends are different sizes, it’s called a reducer elbow or Threaded Reducing Elbow.

A 45° Stainless Steel Threaded Elbow, also known as a 45 bend or 45 ell, is commonly used in air-conditioning pipelines, water-supply systems, food processing, chemical and electronic industrial pipelines, agriculture, and solar-energy piping.

Brass Threaded Elbows are categorized by length. A Long Radius Elbow (LR) has a radius about 1.5 times the pipe diameter, while a Short Radius Elbow (SR) has a radius equal to the pipe diameter. Short Radius Elbows are easier to find and are used in tight spaces and pressurized systems.

Long Radius and ASME B16.11 45 Degree Threaded Elbows are used in low-pressure systems where low turbulence and minimal deposition of solids are important. 

45 Degree Threaded Elbows come in various materials, such as chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and copper, and are used in DWV systems, sewage systems, and central vacuum systems.
